We are committed to the highest standards in early childhood education.

Our goal is to provide a fun and friendly environment where children feel welcomed, nurtured, and respected every day. As a Five Star Center, we voluntarily provide lower teacher-to-child ratios than required, relationship-oriented classrooms, and developmentally appropriate activities and expectations.

At HSLC, your child will be looked at as an individual, and we’ll meet their academic, social, and developmental needs based on parental input, developmental assessments and daily interactions.  Your child will be an important member of our family and everyday is an opportunity to add one more priceless memory to their childhood.

Our Learning Programs

Infant

Our Infant Program welcomes babies starting at 6 weeks old, with a focus on providing a nurturing and loving environment. Our teachers are dedicated to giving personalized care, meeting each baby’s physical needs—such as diapering, feeding, and napping—while also supporting their developmental milestones. Through conversation, music, and motor skill activities, we engage with your baby in meaningful interactions. Your baby’s schedule is based on the routine you establish as a parent.

We provide individual cribs with linens (changed daily or as needed), age-appropriate toys and equipment, burp cloths, and caring, knowledgeable staff. Parents are responsible for supplying bottles, baby food, diapers, diaper creams, wipes, and extra clothing for their little one. Our teacher-to-infant ratio is 1:5.

Toddler

Our Toddler Program is designed for children who are confidently walking, eating table food, drinking from a cup, and at least one year of age. The program’s primary focus is to balance a toddler’s need for independent exploration with supportive caregiver guidance, while providing the tools needed for successful social interaction.

In the toddler classroom, teachers focus on language development, using sign language and simple words for communication. They also encourage self-help skills, model good health practices, and support the development of gross motor skills. Toddlers are introduced to art projects and experience a structured environment with learning centers and a consistent daily routine.

Our program encourages age-appropriate interactions by offering multiples of each toy, spaces for active and quiet play, a variety of free play activities, smooth transitions, simple rules, and proper supervision, all aimed at preventing conflicts and discipline issues.

If a child exhibits negative behaviors, such as biting, our staff works to gently guide the child toward more acceptable group behaviors. The school provides all food, snacks, sippy cups, and rest mats. Parents are responsible for bringing crib-sized sheets, a water bottle, nap blankets, diapers, diaper creams, wipes, and changes of clothing. Daily communication via our interactive app provides a record of food, diapers, and nap times. Our teacher-to-toddler ratio is 1:6.

Two-Year-Olds

Our Two-Year-Old Program is designed to support the energy and curiosity of busy toddlers, focusing on several key developmental areas. Language development is emphasized, with teachers encouraging children to communicate by using phrases like, “Use your words” and “How does that make you feel?” Teachers help children express their emotions and frustrations verbally, guiding them to say things like, “I don’t like that!” instead of resorting to physical reactions.

As toddlers engage in more social and interactive play, they begin learning to replace behaviors like biting or hitting with communication, while also mastering important skills like sharing and taking turns. Alongside this growth in social skills, they also start to build a sense of independence.

Potty training is a major part of the program. Children are taught to recognize when they need to use the potty, manage their own clothing, clean up after themselves, dress independently, and practice table manners.

We continue to support the development of gross motor skills while introducing more fine motor tasks, such as using scissors, crayons, markers, paintbrushes, and utensils. Letters and numbers are woven into daily conversations, and academic concepts are introduced through themed units.

At this level, the school provides meals, snacks, rest mats, art supplies, and other materials. Parents are responsible for providing crib-sized sheets, blankets, extra clothing, diapers, wipes, and diaper creams. Our teacher-to-student ratio is 1:9.

Preschool

Our Preschool Program for three and four-year-olds focuses on developing fine and gross motor skills, expanding vocabulary, introducing math concepts, pre-writing activities, and preparing children for Kindergarten. The curriculum is based on themed units and includes hands-on learning through art, dramatic play, math/manipulatives, blocks, reading, writing, computers, and science/sensory centers.

We provide lunch, snacks, rest mats, and art supplies, while parents supply sheets, blankets, and a change of clothes. The schedule offers a balance of structure and flexibility, incorporating everyday activities like lunch and cleanup into learning opportunities that promote independence, social interaction, and good habits.

Children thrive in a creative, supportive environment where individual achievements are celebrated. They develop skills such as drawing recognizable figures, forming letters, recognizing names, printing their own name, counting, and basic math. Each child has a classroom folder for artwork and important information, which parents are encouraged to check daily.

We aim to promote children as a class at the start of the new school year, fostering continuity in friendships and peer comfort. The teacher-to-student ratio is 1:10.

Pre-K

Our Pre-K Program is designed to prepare children for their first year of Kindergarten by balancing structure with the freedom to explore and grow.

Each day, children engage in developmentally appropriate “learning centers” that allow them to explore, experiment, and create through a variety of activities. These centers include math, manipulatives, science, creative art, language, writing, music and movement, computers, dramatic play, blocks, and sand and water play. Additionally, our Seniors focus on developing academic skills in math, literacy, writing, reading, social studies, and science.

Small group activities help children build social skills and cater to various learning levels, while whole-class activities work on lengthening attention spans and fostering a sense of classroom community. Language development is encouraged through reading centers, writing journals, and circle time, while creative thinking is nurtured through art and dramatic play. Teacher-led activities further enrich language, math, and science lessons, encouraging children to think critically, reason, question, and solve problems. Throughout the program, we also focus on essential life skills, such as listening, following directions, sharing, taking turns, and learning responsibility for their actions. The teacher-to-student ratio is 1:13.

Our Center Environment

Our school atmosphere is informal, friendly, and fun. As an extension of the family, we strive to present ourselves as nurturers and good role models for our children. Our teachers are educated in child development, are excited about education, and are continually growing and learning. Our center fully recognizes and encourages their individual teaching styles, as we do each child’s individual learning style. Our teachers show children a caring community by working together and respecting one another. They are deserving of respect from parents, children, school administrators, and the community.
Together, we (parents, teachers, and administrators) provide an atmosphere of love, acceptance, and fun. Together, we instill in your child a sense of self-esteem and an excitement toward learning. We look forward to beginning your child’s journey … together.
